Jor-wa:  the 27 Combinations

The Jor-wa (sbyor ba) are the 27 Combinations, here translated from the White Emerald texts.  Copyright 1998.

Each combination has an unfavourable and favourable aspect.

Unlike some published materials here we present the traditional method of Jor-wa calculations and interpretations which is

The Jor-wa

1.  Selwa [sel ba]= to throw off cleanse or remove esp. impurities.
2.  Zawo [mza’ bo]= near and dear one and love husband or friends.
3.  Tseden [tshe ldan] Life or form of address for holy person.
4.  Kelsang [skal bzang] Prosperous or good fortune
5.  Sungbo [zang po] fine right good in every respect
6.  Ruptong [rab stong] Completely Empty
7.  Leysung [las bzang] Good Activities [Karma]
8.  Zinba [‘dzin pa] Hold[er] note ‘dzin is also eclipse
9.  Ser [gzar] Nail
10.  Dey [’bras] Rice
11.  Pel [‘phel] Increase
12.  Nyeyba [nges pa] Certain
13.  Marchen [rma chen] Great Wound
14.  Gawa [dga ba] Enjoyment
15.  Dorje [rdo rje] Vajra  (note it is rdo rje phalam that = diamond)
16.  Ngodup [dngos sgrub] Manifestation or accomplishemnt
17.  Kundung [kun brdungs] All Beaten
18.  Parwo [dpa’ bo] Hero
19.  Yongjom [yongs ‘joms] Iron Beam
20.  Shiwa [zhi ba] Peaceful
21.  Doop-ba [grub pa] The Accomplished
22.  Doop-ja [grub bya] The Accomplishment
23.  Gaywa [dge ba] Virtue
24.  Karpo [dkar po] The White [also a name of Venus]
25.  Tsung-pa [tshang pa] Brahma
26.  Wung-po [dbang po] Indra - also means the sensory organs and the title given to someone who has a sharp mind.
27.  Shakhon [sha ‘khon] Resentment
 

Meanings:
 

  •  1.  Selwa [sel ba]= to throw off cleanse or remove esp. impurities.

  •  

     

    unfavourable: work related with enemies, giving names, auspicious [activities], associating with relatives and friends, lit. =to cause to agree ie to make something friendly ie befriending or making friends (mthun ‘jug), wealth.

    favourable: lha gsol [the incense burning ceremony], cleaning road,  justice [bshags] punchun tool also to sow seed [‘debs], innermost heart or innermost awareness [blo phugs], friends [grogs] in front  [mdun] ie example when sending corpse it is good to go in front =maybe notr sure,

    Particular:  good for becoming clear on the spiritual path OR good for clearing roads [lam sel ba]


  • 2.  Zawo [mza’ bo]= The Lover [near and dear one and love-husband or friends]

    unfavourable:  nothing unfavourbale in bekar

    favourable:  accomplish every type of activities, love towards/for nagas and Brahman and ornaments, easily accomplish work which is related to auspicious, clean and lovely,

    Particular:  To be amicable with all.


  • 3.  Tseden [tshe ldan] Life [or form of address for holy person.]

    unfavourable:  nothing unfavourbale in bekar

    favourable:  good finances, good people, good strength, good ornaments,

    Particular:  Long life span and receive wealth.


  • 4.  Kelsang [skal bzang] Prosperous or good fortune

  •  

     

    unfavourable:  none

    favourable:  long life span, increase of spirituality, wealth and enjoyment, gems and ornaments will be long lasting,

    Particular:  Perfect complete and sublime.


  • 5.  Sungbo [zang po] fine right good in every respect

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  accomplishment of work related to dbang las [power of controlling forces], easily complete your wishes,

    Particular:  Everyone is pleasant, charming and delightful



     
  • 6.  Ruptong [rab stong] Completely Empty

  •  

     

    unfavourable:  it is bad if you fully complete virtuous deeds,  even if you have good behaviour the result will be bad

    favourable: if you go under the non-virtuous path,

    Particular:  Exhaustion of wealth and animals.


  • 7.  Leysung [las bzang] Good Activities [Karma]

  • unfavourable:

    favourable:  clearing the misery of ignorance, auspicous clothing and path,

    Particular:  [phyi ma’i lam sna zin] lit. later guide [if lam sna pa] memorise. therefore to remember the guide later??? check in Tib dictionary.
    final meaning may be to pick up or to know different pathways later.


  • 8.  Zinba [‘dzin pa] Hold[er] note ‘dzin is also eclipse

    unfavourable:

    favourable or not not clear:  increase in lineage, war and women or obtaining a house, work related with power,

    Particular:  recieve gems and wealth.


  • 9.  Ser [gzar] Nail

  • unfavourable:  face war, robbery, enemies and sick people likely to die, receive bad mouth gossip and defamatory rumours,

    favourable:

    Particular:  Face great harm in your activities.


  • 10.  Dey [’bras] Rice (not grain)

  •  

     

    unfavourable:  seems like its unfav.  loss of life-soul [rsogs bla], decline in life and palace, loss of stable place to enemies,

    favourable:

    Particular:  Suffering from naga diseases.


  • 11.  Pel [‘phel] Increase

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  vanquishment of enemies and increase in wealth and life span, easily compltee your work.

    Particular:  Increase in wealth and good for everything.


  • 12.  Nyeyba [nges pa] Certain

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  good figure, increase your intelligence, good voice, intellectual, easily accompliush your every desire,

    Particular:  The enemy shall be conquesred always.


  • 13.  Marchen [rma chen] Great Wound

  •  

     

    unfavourable:  bad for people who are alive and dead, danger to the body [gzugs ‘jigs], bad for people, wealth, houses and neighbourhoods, may get wounds and blood,

    favourable:

    Particular:  Intermediate [ie this day is not too good or not to bad] and leprosy diseases arise.


  • 14.  Gawa [dga ba] Enjoyment

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  spiritual wealth, intellectual,  increase in fortune and houses, auspicious [activites?], feel enjoyment,

    Particular:  Intermediate [ie this day is not too good or not to bad] love of life? or love to life or love to life span [tshe la dga’]


  • 15.  Dorje [rdo rje] Vajra  (rdo rje phalam = diamond)

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  generally favourable but you may feel fear and panic, work related with peaceful and auspicious activites will decline, favouable for work related with resentment, conflcits and non-virtue deeds,

    Particular:  Fulfilment of all desires.


  • 16.  Ngodup [dngos sgrub] Manifestation or accomplishemnt

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  Good name, intellectual, and clear sense organs ie intelligence, will have good ornaments, auspicous, and wealth, easily accomplish any work, and expert in [thabs] method, [bla ma sgom] this is like a lama who is special to a person eg. when they die they will hold to this lama thus effecting a good direction in bardo.

    \Particular:  Fulfilment of all your plans.


  • 17.  Kundung [kun brdungs] All Beaten

  •  

     

    unfavourable:  inauspicious, gossip and defamatory talk, face demons and killed regiment of soldiers, hard to fulfil your wishes,

    favourable:

    Particular:  bad if you travel or go abroad.


  • 18.  Parwo [dpa’ bo] Hero

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  well disciplined, recieve initiations of dharma and path [chos dang lam gyi dbang thobs pa], enjoys happiness,

    Particular:  Your emeny will be conquered and you will win.


  • 19.  Yongjom [yongs ‘joms] Iron Beam

  •  

     

    unfavourable:  likely to face fear of enemies and generally bad for the neighbourhood, [someone will] take way your wealth and majesty [maybe position], fear of disease and harm and injury will occur against you

    favourable:
    Particular:  likelihood of death in prison.


  • 20.  Shiwa [zhi ba] Peaceful

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  auspicious for both the area and lineage, obstacles and harm will decline and accomplishment of your wishes, increase in intelegnce and all around will experience happiness,

    Particular:  Receive definite results.
     

  • 21.  Doop-ba [grub pa] The Accomplished

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  easily accomplish your desires, have a good life span and recive wealth,

    Particular:  Accomplishment of all you projects. [lit all you think]


  • 22.  Doop-ja [grub bya] The Accomplishment

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  feels happiness and enjoymnent, enjoys good health, work rlated with power dbang, good for work related to coming and going,[arivals and depatures]

    Particular:  Good for going for business.


  • 23.  Gaywa [dge ba] Virtue

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  whatever you do it is stable and good, fulfils others wishes, the work of the naga king will also be done well,

    Particular:  Good for [gson ston byed pa bzang] lit.  life indicating.  Good life indications.


  • 24.  Karpo [dkar po] The White [also name ofr Venus]

    unfavourable:  likely to become dull [blunt opp. of sharp mind] in the mind, face problems,

    favourable:

    Particular:  Good for travel. [ad perhps fopr staying]


  • 25.  Tsung-pa [tshang pa] Brahma

  •  

     

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  all the people feel joy and happiness, live long life span and recieve wealth and fame, work relted to initaition and long life pujas are good

    Particular:  Recive the dignity or lit. =rank [go phang] of the diety.


  • 26.  Wung-po [dbang po] Indra also means the sensory organs

    unfavourable:

    favourable:  easily accomplish your wishes, have good wealth, receive love and care from the king,

    Particular:  Good for students and scholars.

    27.  Shakhon [sha ‘khon] Resentment

    unfavourable:  resentment, the sensory organs of the nagas will decline, the work related to servants and queens declines,

    favourable:

    Particular:  [bud med mdza’ dang phad] Love of women, and ‘Phad’ [large sack made of yak hair or hair or cotton.?]. phad also means the barb on the scopions tail.
